CANDELABRA
Each time you burn me
I melt
I flare for an instant
flicker
then settle
The paraffin coats me
then hardens
Over time
preserving me
I stare through the rivulets
at a world
honey colored
and I feel safe
until the wick is gone
smothered
and a faint wisp
like a whisper
curls back
into itself
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?
Where have you been?
The cold wind asked
Up on the mountain
singing your song
The one in my heart
I’ve known all along
Where have you been?
The deep water asked
Searching your depths
for secrets you keep
Stories to comfort
my long, dreamless sleep
Where have you been?
The dark forest asked
Silently walking
through deepest of green
Breathing in beauty
like I’ve never seen
Where have you been?
The dying stars asked
Gazing at you
from far, far below
Marveling for hours
your sad, fading glow
Where have you been?
My true love she asked
Holding your hand
Speaking your name
Recalling each moment
for when my time came
Where have you been?
Death, he then asked
Living a life
to remember past this
Come take my hand
Show me the abyss
A FLUTTERING VEIL
In dusky night
I stare through your fluttering veil
powder soft
dreamlike
Brushing my lips
my lashes
I‘m safe
in this graceful cage
Then..
you are gone
I’m left
weeping
My world
darkened
by light
