Denise Hrouda was born in Portland, Oregon on November 1st, 1986. She is a college graduate from Oregon State University with a degree in Psychology, and minors in Biology & Chemistry. Her hobbies include: abstract art, running and studying metaphysical topics, such as astrology. Recently, Denise has had a lot of time to herself, which has allowed her to delve deeper into her internal processes, namely synthesizing emotions through paint. She paints rather rapidly, channeling her anger onto paper. She finds that her subconscious presents itself and her heart feels happier. When life feels low, the canvas is welcome. Her abstract art piece "Shedding Old Skin" was previously chosen as the book cover for Voice Catcher 6: An Anthology of New Writing and Art by Portland-Area Women. Another piece, "The Commuter" has been incorporated into the Voice Catcher online journal of women's voices and visions, fall edition (2012). "Wicked Witch" has been displayed in the 2012 winter edition. "Rolling the Die" and "50% Opened Gateway" are also shown on the Voice Catcher website. She has exhibited at Stonehenge Designs, which is located in Portland.
