MODERN WARFARE

The vampire army
Marched like ruthless automatons
Defeating and devouring
All that stood against them
Until someone suggested
Filling the frontline
With the diseased and dying
Pumped full of designer poisons
And the ravenous invaders
Gorged themselves to eventual defeat
Medals would later be awarded
Though many would be posthumous

WAKE UP DEAD MEN

Sleep is for the living
Not the likes of you
So kick and claw
The dirt aside
Freeing yourself
To join the shufflers
Where instinct alone
Is sufficient reason
For the endless trudge
Of a godless crusade

Wake up dead men
Wake up dead men
Join the dance

THE VISITER

He’s knocked my door
So many times
He claims to be
An old friend now

But his face is bony
His lips are cold
Dark clouds follow
The outlook’s grim

He came for them
The ones I loved
And soon, I know
He’ll knock again

Keep going, Reaper
At least for now
Shuffle past my door
Not yet...not yet

FIRE AND WATER

I try to reach you
But the building shimmers
As it reflects the rising flood

Nothing is substantial
Concrete and steel melting
Into bendy liquid plastic

And the planet burns

Whatever gets us first
Whether fire or water
Let me hold your hot wet hand

And the planet, burns and drowns
