Stephen Cooney has been a fan of art for as long as he can remember. He's always loved horror and fantasy art since an early age after watching films, which he then would try to copy.

In his teenage years, heavy metal music and album covers influenced him in a major way. He went on to study art at Exeter College but he soon found out he did not fit into art school because the teacher did not understand the dark side of his art. As a result, Stephen went into the tattooing art, then decided to give painting another go.

He is still enjoying painting to this day. Although most of his work has been to do with horror and fantasy, he is always willing to try new projects on different subjects.

Today, he is best known for creating numerous book and magazine covers for many well-known writers and periodicals. Stephen is married to Amanda and has two children, Hayley and Steven Jr.
