John Frazee was born and raised in New York City, pursuing art his entire life. He graduated from the prestigious High School of Art and Design and Pratt Institute, both in New York City. He has been exhibited in well over 100 solo and group exhibitions world wide by both jurors and invitation by curatorial means including the Biannual International Contemporary Art, Florence, Italy, Art Basel, Miami, Florida, the Museum of Natural History, Invitational, New York City, the Boca Raton Museum of Art, Boca Raton, Florida, the Bruce Museum, Greenwich, Connecticut, Florida Atlantic University,  Jupiter, Florida.
                                                                       
FIRE & ICE

In this series: "Fire & Ice," John has chosen to use fire as his tool of choice. As opposed to his usual use of brushes and paint, he has chosen propane, butane, fumage, fuel oil, acrylics and oil.

He discovered that not actually touching the surface of the work gave him a sense of intense  freedom. The technique has given him a unique relationship to his current work. Never having considered any of his previous series impressionistic, this new series brings an understanding and kinship with the impressionistic movement. He encouraged himself to use new methods and tools, while watching the surface start to change as the flames approach the board. Often, the flames not quite reaching the surface, controlling it for accuracy, texture and depth of field, he must bridge the gap between the reality he resides in and the one which is being created. Each character as it develops will guide him to its eventual destination.
