MACHINES OF WAR
And the machines of war
Run with the blood of madness
Sending the mind all over the place
Endless attacking
Demise of the human race.
With choking progress as we thought
Really has it not given us a lot
But sadness far beyond realities
And hate taking the stand
Destruction forever unfolding
Across the dismal land
Is this we want or this we get
No answers; we just forget
So we hammer on distant shores
The pains of war
Until mankind is no more
THE SOUL TAKER
At deaths door they wait in calmness
Having you feel it's all right
But deep down you know that there is something not right
Because you feel far within that certain fear
And having no regard for even a tear
All you know and that you knew
Will be removed from your life ever so soon
Go, run as fast as you can
Get far ahead like you never before you ran
Beat them all by miles ahead
Before they catch up and count you dead
Wanting your soul
is their only goal
And they will persist as long as they will
With the one only thought is that to kill
But one you look up to will be there for you
But you have to know as always what it is that you have to do
Win back your life, say your stand
Don't ever allow yourself be lead by that hand
They will try, they will take
But keep up the pace
untill finally you reach that final goal
You reach the gate
I FEEL
Come back please one might say
Return to the spot on any given day
Many young lads will pass that way
Maybe one will want to stay
No more hurting
No more killing
No more just not caring
No more minds that's wearing
From the stress of wasp close the door
Say no more
Until a better day
Take arms and throw them away
No more need for destruction today
How can you not care
Not be aware
Taking the life
By the edge of the knife
And call it another day
Such a bad, bad way
No way, I would stay
When sadness goes on to the end of time
And the endless tormenting of the innocent mind
For worst or best of any kind
Is there ever any room for a heart that's kind
Let me go
I don't want to be here
Take me away
I don't want to stay
Far from here I will go
Never ever seeing happiness I know
Lost forever
Where are we now
Help me
I need to know
Have I now
Lost my soul
Empty, I feel
What do I feel
I feel
SEEDS OF LIFE
As we drop from the sky,
We spread life wide and near.
We shoot for the heavens for us to feel alive.
Explorers of love, settlers of time.
We mature into the spirit of final fulfillment. |
Joseph Patrick McFarlane was born in 1949 in Toronto, Ontario Canada. While attending Central Technical Art College in Toronto, Ontario, he studied studio criteria and art history plus field research, and then attended Emily Carr in Vancouver BC. Joseph has a degree in the fine arts and in Inter-media and Multi media.
Joseph's artwork takes on personal views from everyday thoughts and ideas as well as dreams that have signification meaning for him. He creates things he sees around him, inspirations from other art, and just overall life's experiences that are part of everyone's childhood and adult culture. Having engaged in subjects as diverse as what he has seen during his traveling days, including music of many kinds and architecture; his work reflects all of that with familiar visual signs, and he arranges them into new conceptually layered pieces.
Joseph says, "The words I write are of many thoughts from a life time of experiences including dream artistic ideas. The feelings I have has been intense on occasion and although I enjoy writing my thoughts, this is relatively a new medium of expression for me."
