SUCCUBUS

Slow and steady like an arsenic drip,
He lays there intoxicated by the lullaby
That sings him to sleep. Her lips part in hunger,
Eager to taste the flesh of man, and she pins him
Like a dead butterfly, examining his body
As she spreads open his wings.

Her heart kisses his soul goodbye,
But not before it bathes in the
Waters of Lust. She licks at his lips,
Tonguing at the growing desire brooding in an
Unconscious mind as he gives himself
Over to her—an willing participant in
Love’s final soliloquy.

Tears fall against pale skin
That glows in the shadows of the night, but
No emotion can sway the temptress,
For she is sin. An incarnate evil that feeds on
The union of bodies, watching for the very
Moment when ecstasy takes over and she
Can suck the carcass dry.

THE LIAR

She was mad
And he was a liar,
So she took at axe to his chest
And chopped out the truth;
They collected on the floor
In bloody clumps, each one
Stronger than the last,
But a blow to heart
Nonetheless

BLACKNESS

It came to me screaming,
Smothering its children like
Post-Partum mothers drowning
Their sorrows in fresh
Baptism two days after birth

I cringed at the minor-key
Siren song it wailed in the
Ink-spattered sky, poisoning
My eardrums with an inviting
Brutality that blanketed
Me in suffocation and
Stabbed at my heart song

I could not breathe,
The color ate away at my throat
Devouring what happiness
Remained in this flesh husk,
And my body, desperate to survive,
Purged the venom but
Continued to build up the shadows
That pooled at my feet,
Dragging me further into the
Guttural cry that claimed me
The moment I closed my eyes
