Līga Kļaviņa was born and is currently living in Latvia, a small country in Baltic states, North-East of Europe.

She graduated Riga Art and media school - Visual Design Department – and became a Visual Advertising Design Specialist in year 2010.

She is creating art for private clients, illustrating books, creating book cover illustrations, logos etc. Her illustrations have been used in some local magazines and she has worked with publishers all around the world.

All of her  illustrations are made traditionally - with pencil, ink and watercolors. Her passion for art started from childhood. She always wanted to be an artist. In later years, she became deeply fascinated by J.R.R. Tolkien's writings, so that`s why sheturned to illustrations.

Līga’s artistic influences are illustrators such as Arthur Rackham, Alan Lee, Alphonse Mucha, Brian Froud, Edmund Dulac, Rihards Zariņš, Johann Bauer and many more....Even more, her greatest inspiration for art mostly comes from nature (especially old trees, mist, moon, night...),  legends, stories, old fairy tales ,all those gloomiest and mysterious parts of the world and things that go bump in the night......

She is very interested in mythology, folklore and legends. She believes there is something more in this world around us, something that is hidden from us. Through her illustrations, she tries to show how she imagines things in this world, and how she sees them.
