Vivien Leanne Saunders is a part-time illustrator living Lancaster, England, where she is currently studying a postgraduate degree in music. Her art is drawn from her love of telling stories through any medium; she is always looking for new ways to make stories vivid and unique. She adores fantasy and myth, and most of her illustrations reflect this. Vivien’s love of colour and luminous shading has been influenced by stained glass, and she works primarily in colouring pencils on paper. Although she has a lifelong interest in the work of the Pre-Raphaelites, she does not strive for similar realism in her drawings. However, trying to capture their stylistic trait of freezing an entire narrative into a single scene has shaped many of Vivien’s works. Her current project is illustrating of a collection of poems by local Lancashire poet Ron Carey, as well as teaching music and art lessons. In her spare time, she writes and illustrates children's books for her cousins about magical fairy teddies called the Tooth Bearies.
