Taz Poltorak is an artist who works with various media, from oils to airbrushing, from pastels to digital. Taz was born in St.Petersburg, Russia where he studied at the State University of Culture and Arts. Having moved to the UK he eventually settled down in a quiet spot in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside where he draws his inspiration from the nature around.

Although he painted during his childhood and teen years, Taz gradually moved away from art with the day job taking up time. The passion was re-awakened when Taz first saw the airbrushed works of Naoto Hattori and was blown away by the ability to lay down microscopically thin layers of paint, which allowed photo-realistic blending of colours. Taz has studied airbrush, and at 30 he decided to abandon his career in IT, which was not satisfying, and became a self-employed artist.  He has also attained a degree in vehicle paint to allow himself execute custom paint jobs on cars and various other surfaces.

Taz’s motto in art is that any means is good if it helps achieve the desired result, therefore, he easily puts together different methods of traditional and digital painting. Taz works in illustration, paints landscapes in oils, combines calligraphy with surrealism, he writes poetry and even dabbles in photography. With his airbrush Taz has painted cars, computers, skateboards.  He believes that there is truly no end to what can be made into art.

The piece titled Cliff Dwellings has been executed following Don Seegmiller's tutorial. In other words, Don produced the original concept, which Taz followed in his book while learning Corel Painter.

Taz’s writings have been presented in several publications, including ImagineFX and his artwork has been featured in the OM Magazine.
